WLGAI
When it comes to improving Bible literacy among the deaf we use the acronym WLGAI. Prior to class the participants fill out a form using words and phrases from the text (similar to sermon notes) and then we discuss them.
What – summarize the passage in 3-5 points
Law – what parts of the passage describe what God demands or threatens?
Gospel – what parts describe what God promises or gives through Jesus?
Apply – How does this text apply to us today?
Illustration – what illustration would you use to demonstrate the main point to another person?
Pray – using words from the text.
